Tenure-Track Position in Chinese Language and Literature
Whittier
College's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications
for a full time, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor in Chinese
language and literature beginning Fall 2009.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand, though those with ABD status may be
considered. Teaching responsibilities include teaching language classes at all
levels, as well as modern and classical Chinese literature, Chinese culture and
civilization. Preference will be given to applicants with specialization in
Chinese language and literature and with extensive experience in teaching
Chinese language essentials. Candidates must have proven ability in the use of
standard Chinese, written and spoken at the native or near native level, as
well as some experience teaching modern Chinese at the college level in the
United States. Native or near-native abilities in English are required as
well. Whittier College seeks excellence in teaching, scholarship,
leadership and community. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2008
and selected candidates will be interviewed at the MLA in San Francisco
December 27-30, 2008.
